014-450-x-3381

We’ve got a fine run of this superb academic (but still highly readable) archaeological journal for sale.

It is complete from Vol 1 (1962) through to Vol 32 (1993) and even has a couple of duplicate issues.

Only 1 journal (Vol 6, 1967) is really suffering, being fairly loose leafed and somewhat battered, but complete…all the rest are in Very Good to Fine condition.

015-450-x-3381In addition the first two index volumes are also available (Vol 1-10; Vol 11-20).

If this set is of any interest to you, please drop us a line.

We also have many volumes of Old Cornwall and Journal of the Royal Institution of Cornwall, along with a substantial collection of the Proceedings of the Devon Archaeological Society.

Contact us for further details.

Churchill’s The Second World War – Folio Society (+ 1st Edition)

005-450-x-338We’ve got a nice Folio Society set of the 6 volume Churchill history of WWII.  It’s a 2003 3rd printing and is unread (although there are a couple of small knocks to the boxes and a very small publishing error on the spine of Volume 3).  It’s a handsome set.

We also have a 1st edition copy of the 1st book, The Gathering Storm (1948, London, Cassell) complete with Dust Jacket and rare author’s note/erratum slip.  No inscriptions, not price-clipped, but yellowing and spotting as expected, and Dust Jacket is frayed to edges with small loss at extremities of the spine.

006-450-x-338We’ll include the first edition in with the Folio Set.   £85 including (substantial – it’s heavy!) UK postage and packing.  Happy to post abroad too (contact us for details).

Lakeland Country Churches (Illustrated by Edmund Blood)

Posted on: May 15th, 2009 | No Comments

002-90-x-1201Here’s a great little book that I found the other day.  It’s called ‘Lakeland Country Churches: A Visitor’s Guide’, and it does exactly what it says on the cover, including over 100 entries describing the location and history of the churches, along with their architectural features.

It is written by Sheila Ricketts, and beautifully illustrated (with about 50 images) by the artist Edmund Blood, who’s work I think is fabulous (http://www.edmundblood-art.co.uk/index.htm).  Sadly, and quite bizarrely given the poor nature of many of the Lakeland books around, the book only had one print run.  Even more sadly, Edmund Blood died about 7 years ago.

004-120-x-901This is signed by the author (no inscription, dated June 5, 1994), and is in a virtually unread condition.  Certainly VG+.  Available from us for only £11 plus £2 p&p (UK).

Going Live!

Posted on: May 14th, 2009 | No Comments

moon-mountain-without-wordsApologies in advance, but there are bound to be a few teething troubles as we go live.  Please let me know of anything you find that doesn’t look quite right…and we’ll do our best to get it fixed as soon as practically possible.  Equally, suggestions on how we could improve the site would be most welcome, preferably by email.

Stock will be slowly added to both AbeBooks and eBay over the next weeks and months, so do keep checking back there.  But please also contact me if you are after anything in particular.  I’m happy to check our existing stock, as well as keep an eye out for you with my contacts in the trade.  Also, please don’t forget to check your shelves, attics, and (dry!) cellars…we are very interested in buying new stock!

Welcome aboard!
